Bend FD offers CPR, ‘Stop the Bleed’ training classes

KTVZ

In addition to its monthly community CPR class, the Bend Fire Department is presenting a one-hour Stop the Bleed class on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Fire Training Facility, 63377 Jamison, directly after the CPR class at the same location.

Each month, on the first Wednesday, the BFD presents a community CPR class which teaches attendees how to save a life if they witness someone suffering from cardiac arrest. The class is informative, interesting and important, because people leave the class with lifesaving skills.

The Stop the Bleed class teaches how to apply tourniquets, use emergency combat bandages, an introduction to clotting bandages, and how to pack wounds, using bleeding simulators.

Each class is an hour in length, and people can sign up by calling the BFD at 541-322-6300.
