Texas AG Ken Paxton’s securities fraud trial set for April, more than 8 years after indictment

HOUSTON (AP) — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will stand trial on securities fraud charges in April. The trial date set by a judge Monday comes more than eight years after the Republican was indicted over accusations that he duped investors in a tech startup. The scheduling of the trial comes at a moment when Paxton has appeared politically recharged. He was acquitted last month in a historic impeachment trial in the Texas Senate over accusations of abusing his office to help a donor. The FBI is still investigating those allegations.
