BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity capped off its successful Humanity in Action Capital Campaign with a celebration at Tetherow Resort on Nov. 2. The event raised over $100K, pushing the campaign over its $4M goal.

Boosted by a $50K match from Laurie & Kent Thomas, donations were made through a lively paddle raise led by emcee Shanan Kelly. The event also featured speeches from Habitat staff and homeowners, and live music by Eugene-based High Step Society.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Central Oregon community for supporting this campaign. It provides a lasting investment to ensure that hardworking families and individuals can stay in our community and enjoy the stability of homeownership,” said Carly Colgan, CEO of Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity.

The Humanity in Action Capital Campaign kicked off in 2021 with the aim to achieve a long-term, systemic impact in both the Bend and Redmond communities by:

  • Raising $4 Million
  • Completing 40 new affordable homes by 2024
  • Establishing a base for building 20 homes per year after 2024

“Celebrating the successful campaign is a wonderful achievement,” said Darrion Cotroneo, Director of Development. “But our work isn’t done. We’ve increased our capacity to build more homes than ever before, and our next goal is to raise $1.5M annually to continue to make an impact on the housing crisis in Central Oregon.”

Habitat leverages grants and fundraising to cover the difference between construction costs and what a working-class household can afford. Donations made through the end of 2023 will double their impact thanks to generous matching funds from the TallTreeTrust.
