Melting ice and snow with periods of rain may lead to minor flooding this week
The weather pattern has changed from last week’s arctic invasion of the cold air, and now we are seeing the icy roads, parking lots, and sidewalks clearing. The byproduct of the warming and melting is the potential for some big puddles on the roads. This will be mainly at lower elevations obviously and some of the ponding on area roads may be trouble.
As far as the weather goes, we are going to see afternoon highs in the middle 40s to low 50s this week. Overnight lows will be around freezing so the timing of any precipitation will decide whether the precipitation is liquid or frozen or a mix of both.
High pressure takes over the region for a brief period Tuesday as the mercury in the thermometer rises to the middle and upper 40s. Melting snow and ice continue under variably cloudy skies.
During the early morning hours of Wednesday will see the rain, snow, and freezing rain possible. This wintry mix will yield to all rain by the middle of the morning and through the afternoon, off and on.
Thursday will start out like Wednesday with a spotty wintry mix in the morning followed by variably cloudy skies. Friday looks to be a rainy day with temps in the low 40s.
A passing shower is on the docket for Saturday as of this forecast package, then a mild and dry pattern for a couple days starting Sunday.
