Bend motorcyclist, 21, seriously injured in Bend Parkway rollover crash; police say he’s expected to survive
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 21-year-old Bend man was seriously injured Tuesday evening in the rollover crash of his motorcycle on the Bend Parkway, but police said he is expected to survive.
Officers responded around 7:25 p.m. to the reported crash in the southbound lanes of the parkway near Reed Lane, Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller said.
According to witnesses, the motorcycle apparently rolled several times, and the rider was thrown off it, down an embankment off the west side of the parkway, Miller said,
Bend Police officers provided initial medical care until Bend Fire & Rescue medics arrived on scene.
Miller said the motorcyclist, who reportedly was wearing a helmet, was taken to St. Charles Bend and is expected to survive.
Oregon State Police are also investigating the crash, which closed both southbound lanes of the Bend Parkway for about 30 minutes. One lane remained closed until shortly before 9 p.m.
