Soroptimist of Bend accepting applications for ‘Live Your Dream’ cash awards to women for school, training costs
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Women who serve as the primary wage-earners for their families and who are motivated to improve their lives by advancing their careers through education or training can now apply for financial assistance through the The Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education and Training Award for Women®.
Soroptimist International of Bend selects top applicants to receive the $2,000 cash awards. One of these awards is provided through the generosity of Central Electric Cooperative, Inc, whose award goes to a qualifying applicant residing in the CEC service area.
The Live Your Dream Award provides cash awards for head-of-household women seeking to improve their earning potential. The award can be used toward tuition, books, child care, car fare or any other education-related expense.
Nationwide, the Live Your Dream Award provides over $2.8 million in cash awards to head-of-household women in need each year. Since the program’s inception in 1972, more than $40 million has helped tens of thousands of women improve their quality of life.
Receiving this award builds their confidence; strengthens their self-determination and in turn, inspires them to help others. Helping women in this way has the demonstrated effect of leading to stronger communities, nations, and the world.
Live Your Dream Award applications are available online at www.sibend.org. The application deadline is November 15. Candidates must have dependents and be enrolled in an accredited program to be eligible. Please contact Jan Swander at j.m.swander@gmail.com with questions.
