Temperatures cooling down today and through the end of the week
We will see our temperatures drop below normal, into the 50s, today with a couple areas barely tipping into the 60s. Lows tonight in the 20s and 30s, all near or below freezing. You can expect the same pattern for the rest of the work week. Thursday will be our coolest day, with most areas barely reaching 50 degrees.
Rain began last night and carried into the overnight hours so you’ll likely be waking up to some wet roads this morning. We a have a break in the rain for the first part of the morning but grab your jacket with a hood because showers will be hit or miss, off and on throughout the afternoon.
By the end of the night, we’ll see another break in rain before the next wave moves in overnight, bringing with it mountain snow and a bit of a wintry mix for areas like La Pine and Sunriver. If you’re above 4000ft, you could see some flurries but in general, just anticipate cold rain. This will continue into Thursday morning but will taper off through the afternoon and we should see some clearing by Friday.
There is a Winter Weather Advisory for the Cascades on Thursday due to the snow that is expected. Most snow that falls along the passes won’t stick around very long due to the relatively warm ground. As it melts over the course of the day, driving conditions through the passes will be slick and could be hazardous. Drive safely and pack a winter emergency car kit, just in case.
Our weekend will be a bit warmer, in the upper 60s with another chance for rain by the end of the weekend into the top of next week.
Happy Wednesday and drive safely! Keep an eye out for the pumpkin in my forecast through the end of the month.
