Heavy snow into Tuesday sparks Winter Storm Warning
A Winter Storm Warning has been issues by the National Weather Service for the Cascades and the majority of Central Oregon, specifically the higher elevations. Areas like Sisters, Sunriver, and La Pine are expected to see 3-6 inches of snow by Tuesday morning and the Cascades could see upwards of about a foot. Areas north of Redmond along 97 will see mostly rain today, maybe a few flurries, and are not included in the Winter Storm Warning.
You can expect to wake up to either wet or white roads this morning. Snow will make for a tricky morning commute–Drive slowly and safely. If you are planning any travel through the mountain passes, bring your winter car emergency kit and be careful or reschedule.
School closures or delays are possible tomorrow. We’ll update you as they happen.
Snow will continue through the morning. There will be a brief pause in the afternoon before more snow is expected this evening. That will continue into Tuesday morning.
We saw a number of systems pass through our region last week. This is the last “hoorah” expected before we see drier, calmer weather. There is a small chance for some rain to fall early Wednesday before the rest of the week looks to remain dry.
We have highs today in the 30s and 40s and lows tonight in the 20s and 30s. Highs tomorrow will be a few degrees warmer than today.
Be safe and have a happy Monday!
