Secret Santa: Assistance League of Bend delivers presents to assisted living facilities
(BEND, Ore.) -- KTVZ-- The Assistance League of Bend spent the day delivering holiday cheer. Their secret Santa delivery project brings gifts to 18 assisted living facilities here in Bend, Redmond, La Pine and Sisters. The care homes gave the Assistance League wishlists for more than 400 people.
Members of the league, their families and even local businesses fill the wishlists, then package the gifts up to be delivered by Christmas. Each gift is personalized, which makes for some very interesting and unique gifts.
Tamara Spain, Co-Chair of Assistance League Secret Santa said “Well, that's what makes it a lot of fun is that they will say they would like some pink pajamas with, some socks. We had one gentleman, who loved John Wayne. So trying to find John Wayne memorabilia for him. So it's all over the spectrum.”
While giving gifts is part of the Christmas spirit, this secret Santa isn’t without its rewards, league members say they get amazing thank you letters from the people who receive gifts.
