Oregon State Police identifies Madras motorcyclist killed in Highway 26 collision with pickup truck
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Oregon State Police on Friday identified a 36-year-old Madras man who was killed when his motorcycle struck a pickup truck turning left onto Dover Lane from Highway 26 south of Madras.
Troopers responded around 7 a.m. Thursday to the two-vehicle crash on Highway 26, at the intersection with Dover Lane, in Jefferson County.
A preliminary investigation indicated a 22-year-old Bend man was driving a southbound Dodge Ram 2500 and trailer and began making a left-hand turn onto Dover Lane when Scott Anthony Pradmore of Madras, operating a southbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle, tried to pass on the left side of the pickup. He struck the trailer as the pickup driver made the turn.
Pradmore died at the scene, troopers said, while the pickup driver was uninjured.
The highway was closed or restricted for about two hours during the on-scene investigation.
"An unsafe pass is considered the primary cause of the crash," OSP said.
OSP was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and ODOT.
