Plans submitted to renovate former “IHOP” restaurant, Drive-Thru on proposal

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Plans to renovate the former "IHOP" location in Bend at NE River Mall Drive and U.S. 97 have been submitted to the City of Bend.

According to documents obtained by KTVZ News, a proposed plan for the renovated building includes two retail spaces, with one space including a drive-thru.

The "IHOP" restaurant closed in 2024 after the location's lease expired. At the time, the manager of the restaurant told KTVZ News, "the owners of the building are raising it significantly, which we are unable to pay because this location hasn't been doing well since the pandemic." The location's sign was also damaged after a vehicle crashed into the support structure prior to the closure.

KTVZ News learned the application submitted is a pre-application, meaning the application process is in the early stages.

No tenant has been identified if the application process was to move forward.
