Filtered sunshine today, still watching storm south of Oregon

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – The sky conditions today are best described as “filtered sunshine” with mid to high level clouds shrouding the sunlight. The clouds are not thick enough to block the rays from the region, more of an opaque pattern. This will keep the temperature readings down a bit, but still warm enough to get close to 50 in Central Oregon.

The area of low pressure off the coast of California is still tracking south of our region later today and tomorrow. The result will be a few more clouds and a slight chance for some rain south of Deschutes County. The rain and high elevation snow has a very low chance to arrive in the Tri-Counties, but mainly before sunrise.  Flurries may fall south of highway 20, but no accumulation is expected. Wednesday will be cloudy and chilly with highs near normal, 45-degrees.

Thursday will be slightly warmer and have mostly sunny skies. The highs in the area will reach the low 50s and upper 40s in the sunbathed high desert. Best referred to as a partly cloudy day with highs above normal.

Friday has a chance for more cloud cover and some light snow to fall over the Cascades. The rain and then snow will arrive late in the afternoon and not last too long. The light snow overnight will be followed on Saturday by a passing shower or two. The showers will be few and far between and only light rain and high-level snow is possible. Highs will still be slightly above normal, topping out in the upper 40s. Plans will not be greatly impacted for any Valentine’s Day adventures or just a night out.

Sunday will see a break from the precipitation, but only for a brief period as more rain and snow arrives on Monday. This will be the beginning of a wet pattern that will see off and on rain and snow through next week.

Please, Stay safe.
