OREGON (KTVZ) -- The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (ORPD) will begin offering digital 12-month parking permits starting May 21.

These new digital permits provide a modern and accessible way for visitors to park at Oregon's state parks.

The digital permits are available for the same price as the previous physical parking permits. In-state residents can purchase a digital permit for $60, while out-of-state residents will pay $75.

Users can register up to two license plates under a single 12-month digital parking permit. There is no requirement to display proof of the permit in a vehicle, as the registered license plate serves as the valid permit.

Each digital permit is valid for 365 days from its purchase date and can be used at all Oregon State Park day-use parking lots. A reminder email will be sent 30 days before a permit is set to expire.

For visitors who have already purchased a physical 12-month parking permit, it will remain valid until its expiration date. Physical permits cannot be exchanged for digital ones.

Both daily and 12-month digital parking permits will be available for purchase directly on the Oregon State Parks website. Some state parks will also have signs with QR codes that link directly to the permit purchase website.

Digital permits can also be ordered by phone at one-800-452-5687. The customer service phone line operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST.

Visitors will receive an email reminder 30 days before their digital permit expires. More information about obtaining a digital parking permit is available online.
