Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend to host first-ever Baseball Skills Camp

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend (BGCB) will host its first-ever Baseball Skills Camp from June 22 through June 26 at Juniper Park. The camp will be led by former San Francisco Giants pitcher Dave McKae, offering K-five club members an opportunity to develop their baseball skills.

The new Baseball Skills Camp is open to BGCB members in grades K-5, welcoming all skill levels. Doug Davis and the Bend South Little League are generously providing all the necessary equipment. The cost to participate in the week-long camp is $125, with scholarships available to ensure access for more youth. Boys CEO Michael Baker & Girls Clubs of Bend, said the organization aims to reach youth who may not otherwise have access to such programs.

"We are thrilled to be offering this high-quality baseball camp to our club members," Baker said. BGCB hopes the camp will spark new interests among its participants.

Current BGCB members can sign up for the camp when they receive their welcome packets. Non-members interested in participating can apply for membership at bgcbend.org/myclubhub.

For the first time, BGCB is offering families the ability to fully customize their summer experience through weekly programming choices. Once a member, families can choose to register for the entire summer or select individual weeks. Each week of the 12-week summer programming will feature a specific theme, with activities such as the baseball skills camp.

BGCB aims to provide expanded opportunities for Central Oregon youth, reaching more individuals more often and creating a deeper impact. Those interested in sponsoring a child to attend the baseball camp can contact alice@bgcbend.org. For general questions about programming, membership, or the Baseball Skills Camp, Jennifer can be reached at jgraham@bgcbend.org.
