A taste of the Deschutes County Fair: Visitors explore this year’s food lineup

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Deschutes County Fair entered its second day today, featuring a wide variety of food vendors alongside traditional rides and entertainment. The event at the fairgrounds offers a diverse selection of culinary options ranging from classic fair staples to international dishes.

The fair features a mix of new and returning stands for visitors to sample. Food options include a variety of Mexican and Asian cuisine, along with specialty items such as huckleberry smoothies and Hawaiian teriyaki plates.

Many fairgoers enjoyed traditional sweets like elephant ears. Kale Fischer, who is visiting the fair from Washington, noted the quality of the dessert. “I got the elephant ear so far. Its very delicious,” Fischer said. “The cinnamon on top. It's like, perfect.”

Tyler Conkey, a Redmond resident, also commented on the snack. “Its super soft and the edges are nice and crispy,” Conkey said.

Other visitors opted for full meal plates from the various stands. Chad Towell, a Bend resident, sampled the Hawaiian-style offerings. “I had the combo plate from the, Hawaiian teriyaki and it was excellent. Really good,” Towell said.

International dishes were also popular among those traveling to the event. Brian Hathaway, who is visiting from Vancouver, described his experience watching his meal be prepared. “I got a plate of quesa doria tocos, its been delicious,” Hathaway said. “Fresh, I watched them make it. It is super tasty.”

The Deschutes County Fair runs through this Sunday. Gates are open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The fair is scheduled to close at 8 p.m. Sunday. You can buy tickets here.
