Hot pattern in place with poor air quality

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Wildfire smoke is hovering over the region impacting the air quality. An Air Quality Alert is in place until further notice for most of the state.

Another concern this week will be the heat as a strong ridge of high pressure builds over the Desert Southwest and expands into Oregon.

Highs will likely hit the mid 90s today, although the smoke may inhibit the heating process. Temperatures will dip into the 50s overnight.

It will be even hotter on Thursday as temperatures peak in the upper 90s to triple digits.

Temperatures will remain in the 90s through Saturday as the ridge continues to dominate the weather pattern.

Highs will fall into the upper 80s Sunday and remain there into early next week, offering little relief from the heat.
