Warm last day of summer, cooling trend ahead

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Expect warm and dry conditions across Central Oregon for the final day of summer 2026. Highs will climb into the low to mid 80s today.

A weak weather system moves through tomorrow, bringing breezy winds and a noticeable drop in temperatures. Highs will only reach the mid 70s. Central Oregon should remain dry, while a few showers will be possible farther east.

The autumnal equinox arrives Tuesday, marking the official start of fall. From here, daylight will continue to decrease as the nights grow longer until the winter solstice in December.

Temperatures cool a few more degrees Wednesday, with highs in the low 70s under partly cloudy skies.

Our next chance for wet weather arrives late Thursday into Friday as a stronger system approaches. Scattered showers could develop Friday, but the forecast details will become clearer as we get closer.

Highs will fall into the 60s by Friday as cooler air settles in.

Below-normal temperatures will continue through the weekend, with daytime highs only reaching the mid to upper 50s Saturday and Sunday.
