(Update: Crash victim identified; driver charged with DUII)
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Jefferson County authorities on Wednesday identified a 20-year-old Madras man killed Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash that also brought drunken driving charges against the 17-year-old driver.
The crash, which also injured the other occupants, was reported just after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday along Northwest Columbia Drive near Fir Lane, Sheriff Jim Adkins said.
The car carrying the driver and three passengers left the road, damaged a power pole and overturned in a field, Undersheriff Marc Heckathorn said.
Heckathorn said Christopher Darell Johnson was killed in the crash.
He said the 17-year-old driver was charged with DUII-alcohol and that the other occupants are cooperating with the investigation. No other information was released.
Oregon State Police reconstructed the crash scene and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation. Heckathorn also thanked Jefferson County Fire District No. 1 for assisting on the scene and the Jefferson County Public Works Department for closing the roadway.
