Three teens escape injury, driver cited in crash west of Sisters

DCSO urges parents to talk to teens about provision license restrictions

SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) – Three 16-year-old Sisters boys escaped injury but the driver was cited after a crash Thursday night just west of Sisters, not far from a recent deadly crash that claimed three teen girls, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.

The crash was reported on Edgington Road around 8:45 p.m., about two miles from where three teen girls, two of them Sisters High School students, were killed the night of Oct. 1 when their SUV left a Forest Service road and struck a tree.

In this case, “thankfully, no one was hurt,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

The driver was cited for driving outside of his license restrictions, Sgt. Jayson Janes said.

“The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind new drivers and their parents that it is a violation of the law to operate a vehicle with non-family passengers within the first six months of receiving their license,” the agency said.

“Due to recent similar incidents, the Sheriff's Office is asking parents to have discussions with their young drivers about the seriousness of operating motorized vehicles,” they added, providing this summary of Oregon provisional license requirements:
