Bend Man Held on Dozens of Abuse Charges

A 57-year-old Bend man was arrested in Portland on charges of abusing at least three minors over a period of several years, luring them into sex acts with money or marijuana. But the initial 367 counts and $13 million bail were reduced considerably at his arraignment.

Bend police detectives, assisted by Portland counterparts, arrested Tyrell Lee Wilson, 57, around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Portland, said Lt. Ben Gregory.

The investigation began only a deal earlier, on Tuesday, when a woman disclosed she had been sexually abused by Wilson over several years, when she was a minor, Gregory said.

Detectives soon learned Wilson had lured two teen females into performing sexual acts with him on multiple occasions, the lieutenant said.

Gregory said in a news release that Wilson ?enticed his victims to engage in sexual acts by offering them money and-or marijuana.? Police were not more specific about the time frame, as their investigation continues.

Wilson was brought back to Bend by detectives and lodged early Thursday at the Deschutes County Jail, initially on 367 counts, and held on $13 million bail, jail offers said.

The charges included: 60 counts of first-degree sex abuse, 64 counts of third-degree sodomy, 60 counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, 70 counts of compelling prostitution, eight counts of third-degree sex abuse, 20 counts of luring a minor, 72 counts of prostitution, 11 counts of exhibiting an obscene performance to a minor and single counts of delivery of marijuana to a minor for consideration and endangering the welfare of a minor.

At his arraignment Thursday afternoon, a judge reduced the charges to 66 counts and his bail was trimmed to $505,000. He?s due back in court next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., a jail officer said.
