Pair Arrested in NW Redmond Drug Raid

Two men whose car was stopped at a northwest Redmond intersection late last week face drug charges, one involving heroin trafficking, drug agents said Tuesday.

Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team detectives, assisted by Oregon State Police, contacted driver Shawn Jacob Flores, 28, of Bend, and passenger Barrett Wayne Hamilton, 39, of Redmond, at the corner of Fourth Street and Dogwood Avenue around 6 p.m. last Thursday, Lt. Ken Mannix said.

Flores allegedly had been involved in sales and manufacturing of heroin distributed in Deschutes County, Mannix said. He was riding in a car driven by Hamilton, who has been arrested during previous CODE Team investigations, the lieutenant added.

Based on information gathered during the investigation, CODE Team detectives gained a search warrant for the car, parked at a Redmond business, Mannix said.

Detectives found and seized about 10 grams of heroin, nearly 7 grams of methamphetamine, scales, packaging materials, drug records, cash and other evidence, Mannix said.

Hamilton was found to possess 1.7 grams and a small amount of marijuana, he added.

Flores remained jailed Tuesday on heroin possession, manufacture and distribution charges, held without bail on a parole violation warrant.

Hamilton posted 10 percent of his $5,000 bail and was released later Thursday, pending an April 18 court appearance, a jail officer said.
