KPOV launching public affairs program
KPOV, High Desert Community Radio, will launch a new volunteer-powered public affairs program—”The Point”—at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1. The Point will air weekdays from 9 to 9:30 am at 88.9 FM and online at kpov.org.
The Point is a live program that focuses on people, issues, events and activities across Central Oregon. The new show will include locally produced features on the arts, recreation, gardening, music, theater, movie reviews, sports, the environment, politics and regional weather reports. Improvisational and skit comedy, puzzles, spoken word, and stories will round out the morning program.
“The Point will engage our Central Oregon listeners, make them think, make them laugh, and move them to get involved in their community,” says KPOV Station Manager Pearl Stark. “The goal of The Point is to help build and strengthen community by providing news and information about what is happening in our community each day.”
Over 25 volunteers have come together to produce The Point. Listeners interested in participating in KPOV’s new locally produced public affairs program can contact KPOV at 541-322-0863 or point@ kpov.org.
KPOV is a listener-supported, volunteer-powered, nonprofit community radio station that broadcasts at 88.9 FM and live on the web at kpov.org.
