La Pine man injured in two-car crash
A La Pine man who ran a red light Tuesday afternoon crashed into an SUV and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies were dispatched around 1:15 p.m. to the intersection of First Street and Huntington Road in La Pine for the two-vehicle crash, said sheriff’s Sgt. Bryan Husband. La Pine Fire crews also responded to the scene.
Deputies determined Zacharee Bailey, 22, of La Pine, was heading north on Huntington at the wheel of a silver 2000 Toyota Corolla and failed to stop for the red light at the intersection with First Street, Husband said.
His car struck a green 1997 Ford Expedition heading west through the intersection, driven by a 17-year-old La Pine girl, Husband said.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, he said, and the airbags of Bailey’s Toyota deployed upon impact. Bailey was taken to St. Charles-Bend for treatment, Husband said, but the other driver was unhurt.
The crash remains under investigation, Husband said.
