Junior scholarship award winners chosen

TCF (The Center Foundation) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 Junior Scholarship Award program.

TCF, in partnership with community donors, gives multiple $1,500 scholarships to outstanding Central Oregon high school juniors who demonstrate academic excellence (3.5 or better), school leadership, and community service.

This year’s scholarships are donated by; The Center, Drs. Knute and Patty Buehler, Cyclesoles, Jim and Kim Mead, Steve and Natalie Hummel for Kids in the Game Foundation, The Souther Foundation, Steven Cappy, Wells Fargo Bank, Therapeutic Associates, Marcia and Howie Koff, Carrera Motors, and Ronda Sneva.

We received over 120 applications this year! Those applications were reviewed by our screening committee and 30 students were interviewed on March 18.

TCF is so very proud of this years’ Junior Scholarship winners as they are incredible students who are doing great things in the community.

TCF also announces the winner of the prestigious William K. Worrell Scholarship dedicated to the memory of former Bend LaPine School District Superintendent, William Worrell. Jordan Gemelas from Madras High School will receive the $5,000 scholarship funded through Bend Research, Home Federal, and Express Professionals.

These fine students and the 2012-13 High Desert Heroes will be honored at the May 9, 2013, Salute to Heroes Scholarship Awards Dinner.
