Prescribed burn planned west of La Pine next week
Next Tuesday through Thursday, the Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District will be conducting a prescribed burn in the Pringle Falls Experimental Forest, 10 miles west of La Pine and 25 miles southwest of Bend.
Smoke from the 108-acre Extra Rx and 158-acre Nut Rx will be visible from La Pine, Sunriver and Hwy. 97. Smoke impacts are expected to be minimal and short-lived.
The prescribed burn is part of a research project designed to produce information pertinent to fuels management, forest insect and disease issues, and over the long term address climate change issues.
