Impressive Bend home that wows – and beams
It’s a side of Bend many of us have never seen. The most unique and expensive homes on the market, many hidden in gated communities.
Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to take a look inside an 11,000-square-foot home in the gated community of the Highlands at Broken Top.
“We’ve got six bedrooms, master suites and eight bathrooms,” said real estate broker Deb Tebbs. “Plenty of room for the family. It’s a pretty big house.”
The two-story home is complete with a theater room, mountain views and multiple fireplaces. But Tebbs says one of the best features is its frame.
“What’s unique about the architecture with these beams is that they’re structural. So the timber peg is actually a structural component of the property,” said Tebbs. “It is pretty unique, and the beams are real wood instead of a laminate beam that sometimes you see. Yeah, it’s pretty amazing that they did this type of work in this size of home.”
On top of the beautiful beam work, Venetian plaster covers every wall and ceiling of the home — all of it done entirely by hand. A beautiful feature that comes with hefty price tag of over $200,000 — about the average cost of a home in Bend.
A butler pantry, an outdoor kitchen and copper sprinkler heads are also features in the home, as well as a four-car garage and RV or boat port.
Even the bathrooms were up to the deluxe standards.
“We’ve got two vanities, his and hers, we’ve got rojo marble on the sinks. All heated floors throughout. Who wouldn’t want this bathroom?” said Tebbs.
Another great feature in the home is it comes with its own wine cellar, complete with a full tasting bar and beautiful barrel ceilings.
“They’ve definitely put their design ideas into this house. It’s very evident, with the little features that they’ve added,” said Tebbs.
On top of the unique features inside, the house sits on 11 acres of land in a gated community, close to Broken Top Golf Club and adjacent to the popular Phil’s Trail mountain bike complex.
