Bend-area man accused of assaulting minor
Oregon State Police detectives arrested a Bend-area man Sunday during a raid on a Deschutes River Woods home after a weekend investigation into an allegation he assaulted a minor, troopers said.
According to OSP Sgt. Roberto Robles, OSP detectives began their investigation Saturday into the allegation of physical child abuse. The alleged victim was checked at a local hospital and released to a family member, Robles said.
The investigation, with assistance from the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office, led to detectives obtaining a search warrant for a home on Umatilla Circle in DRW, south of Bend.
On Sunday, OSP detectives and troopers served the search warrant without incident and took into custody Anthony Wade Osborne, 34 on charges of fourth-degree assault, menacing and harassment.
Osborne was taken to the county jail in Bend, where he was booked on the charges and released later Sunday after posting 10 percent of his $12,500 bail, a jail officer said. He’s due to appear in court on Feb. 18.
Several area residents had asked NewsChannel 21 what transpired Sunday, saying some officers outside of the home had guns drawn and roads were blocked during the raid.
