Casey Roats to run for Bend City Council seat

KTVZ

Casey Roats, a small business owner and fourth-generation Bend resident, announced Thursday he is running for a seat on the Bend City Council in the November election.

Roats will be running for the seat being vacated by Jodie Barram.

A lifelong Bend resident, Casey is part-owner of Roats Water System, a privately-owned water utility company that has operated in southeast and southwest Bend since 1962.

The utility services over 1,700 residential homes and commercial businesses along the 3 rd Street corridor. He is married to Stacie Roats and has two young daughters.

Roats’ public service experience includes sitting on the City of Bend Infrastructure Advisory Group for the past four years. He has also served on the City’s Sewer Infrastructure Advisory Group for two years.

When asked why he wanted to serve on the City Council and what he has to offer, Roats replied: “I’m running for a seat on the Bend City Council to assure Bend maintains its livability and affordability.

“I want to make sure that we leave my children’s generation a city that is safe, efficient, affordable and has a vibrant business climate.

“Having been born and raised in Bend, I have seen a great deal of change in our community. Bend remains an exceptional place to call home, make a living, and raise a family. However, we must prepare and manage for changes that will occur in the coming decades.

“My experience as the owner and operator of a local water company equips me with the knowledge and skill set needed to fulfill one of the City’s core missions – delivering services to its residents.”
