The Workhouse in Bend is hosting over a dozen different art workshops and nutritional classes this fall.

The Workhouse, founded in 2012, holds multiple spaces for local artists to rent, work and sell their pieces. Classes are conducted in the middle and led by different instructors.

Education Coordinator Leah Rutz said Sunday she is actively looking for instructors to teach different mediums.

A scheduled class on fermenting vegetables and brewing your own kombucha has been rescheduled for Sunday , September 21st .

“We’re going to be learning how to ferment different vegetables or different ways of fermenting vegetables,” Rutz said. “And then we’re going to be learning different ways to brew kombucha. And each student will take home a host ‘scoby’ so they can start their whole process of brewing at home.”

Every other Thursday , the The Workhouse conducts Creativity Labs that are more informal, educational gatherings.

“There’s a demand for more community education,” Rutz said. “Fermentation is just one topic of many.”
