KTVZ

More than $500,000 is coming Redmond’s way for streets to serve two new businesses, as approved this week by the Oregon Transportation Commission.

Heather Richards, Redmond’s community development director, said the two grants from the state’s “Immediate Opportunity Fund” will help create 48 new jobs and keep another 165 jobs in town.

One portion of the grant will help Medline Industries, a health care supplies maker. The other is for the street to serve a new manufacturing plant planned by by Bend-based ammunition maker Nosler.

“It’s not a one-time shot,” Richards said. “Those people will be employed, and retained year after year, and the infrastructure will help to not only serve these sites but also additional developments down the road.”

Construction is slated to start in June, and the businesses plan to open their new locations by the end of the year.
