SEATTLE (AP) — Emergency warming shelters were open throughout western Washington and Oregon as temperatures plunged into the teens and lower and forecasters said the arctic blast would last for several days. Snow fell in normally mild Seattle and Portland, Oregon, on Sunday while other other areas of the Pacific Northwest saw up to a foot. Utilities reported about 3,200 customers without power in western Oregon Monday afternoon and about 2,900 in western Washington. And while it mostly stopped snowing in many areas by Sunday evening, unseasonably frigid temperatures were expected to remain until the end of the week.
