Deschutes SO deputy honored at police graduation ceremony
Deschutes County sheriff’s Deputy Michael Mangin was recognized at the Basic Police graduation ceremony at DPSST in Salem on Jan. 22 with the Outstanding Health & Fitness Award for Class BP353.
This award is presented to the individual who excels in the area of physical fitness during the 16 week academy.
In a letter addressed to Sheriff Shane Nelson, DPSST Director of Training Todd Anderson wrote, “It is important that our public safety professionals attain and maintain a high level of physical fitness, which will enable them to perform their jobs of providing emergency services to others.
“Deputy Sheriff Mangin has demonstrated an understanding of the importance of physical fitness in his chosen career and serves as a role model for other public safety professionals.”
Also present was Sheriff Nelson, who was the guest speaker for the ceremony. Those in attendance for the graduation included Michael’s father, Steve Mangin, who currently serves as a detective with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
“Please join me in congratulating Deputy Michael Mangin on his recent graduation, and for being recognized with this award,” said sheriff’s Lt. Nathan Garibay.
