Governor names Bethany Flint new Deschutes judge
Gov. Kate Brown announced Friday that she will appoint Bethany P. Flint to the Deschutes County Circuit Court.
Flint will fill a vacancy created by Brown’s recent appointment of Roger J. DeHoog, a former Deschutes County judge, to the Oregon Court of Appeals.
Flint has been a family law attorney in Deschutes County since 2003. In addition to her private practice, she currently serves as a juvenile court referee for the Deschutes County Circuit Court, as well as a judge on the City of Bend Municipal Court.
Flint’s private practice work is primarily arbitration and mediation of family law cases.
She received a law degree from Whittier College School of Law in 2003, and an undergraduate degree from University of California, Irvine in 1999.
“Bethany Flint’s experience working with families and children in crisis will be an invaluable addition to the Deschutes County bench,” the governor. “She has earned a reputation as a thoughtful and fair arbiter of disputes in her roles as referee, municipal judge, arbitrator, and mediator. She will bring these skills, together with a bright legal mind and a balanced temperament, to her new role.”
