10 Barrel Brewing hosts charity night for Humane Society

Each month, 10 Barrel Brewing chooses a charity and helps it raise awareness and money. For February, the brew house chose the Humane Society of Central Oregon.

On Tuesday night, the pub held a special event where all the profits from 5 to 9 p.m. benefits the Humane Society.

The Humane Society says fundraisers like this help keep their doors open and provide dogs and cats with proper care.

“Some dogs arrive and they are ready for adoption. Others are senior dogs and cats that may have medical conditions and we need to provide care for them before we put them up for adoption,” said Lynne Ouchida, community outreach manager for HSCO.

Representatives of 10 Barrel Brewing said they are happy to help Oregon’s four-legged community.

“They have really strong ties the community,” said Jeff Hakala. “The owners and founders live here in the community, their kids go to school here. It was really important for them to find a way to give back.”

There was a line out the door of people eager to enjoy a meal while supporting the cause. Dog owners who had previously adopted from the Humane Society also stopped by with their furry friends.

“One of the dogs today that was wearing a T-shirt was adopted through us about a year and a half ago,” Ouchida said.

Seeing the adopted dogs with their loving owners reminded Humane Society workers of the importance of the organization.

In March, 10 Barrel Brewing will help the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue organization.
