Red Cross installs 160 free smoke alarms around Bend

KTVZ

On Saturday, American Red Cross volunteers canvassed neighborhoods in Bend and installed 160 free smoke alarms in 51 homes that needed them. Volunteers also provided fire safety and earthquake safety education to residents.

Twenty volunteers, including leaders from Bend Fire and Rescue helped with installation and education efforts. Central Oregon Disaster Restoration presented the Red Cross with a $5,000 donation to support Red Cross fire prevention efforts in the area.

Our local Cascades Region Red Cross has now installed more than 5,000 free smoke alarms in Oregon and Southwest Washington as part of the Home Fire Campaign. Through this program the Red Cross and local partners provide new smoke alarms free of charge in homes that need them in our region.

For additional information or to schedule an appointment to have smoke alarm(s) installed please call (541) 749-4144 or visitwww.redcross.org/CascadesHomeFire.
