Thanks to a new Prineville Police Department smartphone app., its new Facebook page and an alert citizen, Redding California police have captured a fugitive wanted in Prineville for three years on sex abuse charges.

Less than a week ago, Prineville PD released their new phone app and Facebook page, which included a “Most Wanted” section, Lt. Larry Seymour said Friday.

Within the week, and over 900 likes later (with the help of KTVZ posting), the information and photo of Stanley Parrish Sr. were shared all over the Internet, Seymour said.

An alert citizen spotted the fugitive at a Walmart in Redding, California and called it in. Within minutes. the sex offender, wanted on state and federal warrants for sex crimes, was in custody.

Parrish was indicted in 2014 for alleged 2011 incidents involving a minor female, said Crook County Chief Deputy District Attorney Aaron Brenneman. He was indicted on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he’s been on wanted status since then, Brenneman said.

“The Prineville PD would like to thank everyone for supporting their new phone app and Facebook page and encourage everyone to sign up and help continue to send the message that you can’t run away from your crimes,” Seymour said. “Citizens should be proud that an individual who fled almost three years earlier is in custody because police and citizens worked together.”
