Maia Denzler, a senior at Bend High School, galloped and shot her way to a fourth junior championship at the Wild Wild West International Mounted Archery Competition, held Nov. 11-13 near Scottsdale, Arizona.

Competing against horseback archers from eight countries, Denzler held her own over the three day event to lead the Junior Division (17 years of age and under) and finished sixth overall in the total field of 35.

Denzler has trained with her coach Holm Neumann since she was 12 and has competed internationally in Japan and Korea, taking second place overall in Japan in 2015. At this year’s competition in Arizona, Denzler’s father, Eric Denzler, also represented the Cascade International Mounted Archery Center in the Open Division.
