Redmond police said Thursday they have arrested two juvenile females in a string of criminal mischief to nearly two dozen vehicles and a home, as well as a suspected arson fire in the Dry Canyon area, and officers are looking for any other victims or witnesses.

Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the area of Northeast Fifth Street and Quince Avenue on a report of several criminal mischief complaints, officers said.

Several vehicles in the area had been damaged by rocks, leaving dents or broken windows, they said. Police were assisted by residents who had video of the area, as well as other evidence to help identify the suspects.

Around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the area of Northwest Ninth Street and Hemlock Avenue on a report of two people spray-painting vehicles in the area, police said.

Lt/ Jesse Petersen later said 23 vehicles and a home were damaged in the two rounds of vandalism

As officers checked the area, they spotted a small brushfire in the Dry Canyon Trail area and it was put out by Redmond firefighters.

During the investigation, police encountered two juvenile females, Redmond girls aged 14 and 15. Officers said with evidence and other leads, the pair were alleged to be responsible for the damage to vehicles in the morning and evening, as well as the apparent arson blaze.

The teens later were lodged at the Deschutes County Juvenile Detention Center on several charges, including criminal mischief and arson.

In a Facebook post, the Redmond Police Department thanked “those citizens who stepped up to help by calling in as witnesses, assisting officers by allowing access to video surveillance and for stepping out to help officers locate those involved.”

Police are still looking for other witnesses, victims or information. They can be contacted at 541-693-6911 (reference cases 16-350538 and 16-349549) or message us here on Facebook.
