Prineville police investigate possible sexual assault
Prineville police said Thursday they are looking for a person of interest to interview in a possible sexual assault case earlier this week.
A 40-year-old Prineville woman contacted police early Wednesday and reported being the victim of a sexual assault, said Capt. Larry Seymour.
The incident reportedly occurred in the area of Northwest Third and Locust streets within the previous 24 to 48 hours, Seymour said.
The reported suspect is known by the victim, the captain said in a news release, adding that “this was determined to be an isolated incident involving two people that were previously in a relationship.”
Police initiated an investigation into the allegations and identified a person of interest. Seymour said they are trying to locate the person for an interview.
With the investigation still open, Seymour said they are releasing no further information at this time.
