RPA director Jon Bullock appointed to Redmond City Council

The Redmond City Council on Thursday approved Mayor George Endicott’s appointment of Redmond Proficiency Academy Executive Director Jon Bullock to fill the current council vacancy. The seat was vacated when former Councilor Anne Graham resigned in August.

“Serving my community has long been a personal and professional focus of mine,” Bullock said in a news release from the city. “I love Redmond, and I want to ensure Redmond is the best place in Central Oregon to raise a family.

“I think we can continue moving forward together by remaining focused on bringing more good-paying jobs to Redmond and by making sure our city infrastructure is well-maintained and affordable for our citizens.”

Bullock has worked as an educator in Oregon’s public school system for the past 23 years. As executive director of RPA, one of the largest and most successful charter schools in Oregon, he oversees multi-million dollar budgets, construction projects, property acquisition, employees and managers.

“I hope to use these skills and experiences to ensure smart fiscal stewardship in Redmond,” Bullock said.

Endicott said, “After interviewing Mr. Bullock, it was evident he has a keen understanding of how public finance works, as well as the policies that guide it. He works with Redmond students and their families every day, bringing with him a unique and valued perspective to council.”

The appointment is effective immediately . The term for this position runs through December 31, 2018.
