Garage fire heavily damages NE Bend home
A fire that broke out at a northeast Bend home early Tuesday morning destroyed a two-car attached garage and also damaged the home, causing $110,000 in losses, fire officials said.
Bend firefighters responded around 2:30 a.m. to the reported structure fire in the 20600 block of Liberty Lane, Fire Inspector Steve Stenkamp said.
The first unit to arrive reported a double-car attached garage fully ablaze, with flames spreading into the home’s entry, Stenkamp said. No one was home at the time, he added.
The garage was a total loss, while the home’s interior sustained heavy smoke and heat damage, Stenkamp said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The home has working smoke alarms, he added.
Losses were estimated at $100,000 to the structure and $10,000 in contents. A total of 20 firefighters were called to the scene.
