SE Prineville home turns up stolen items; 2 women arrested

A raid Thursday on a southeast Prineville mobile home led to the arrests of two women and recovery of items believed to have been stolen in a string of recent thefts and burglaries, police said.

Prineville police, assisted by Crook County sheriff’s deputies, executed a search warrant around 11:30 a.m. at the residence in the 200 block of Southeast Lynn Boulevard, police Captain Larry Seymour said.

The raid was to look for stolen property and drugs in relation to a string of thefts and burglaries over the past few weeks, he said.

After the search warrant was served, Prineville residents Ashley Luna, 28, and Sheila Morrissette, 36 were arrested.

Luna faces charges of methamphetamine and heroin possession, frequenting a place where drugs are used and theft by receiving, Seymour said. Morrissette faces a frequenting charge.

Both women were booked into the Crook County Jail and conditionally released within about an hour under the crowded jail’s matrix formula, authorities said.

Police seized user amounts of the drugs and various stolen items. Seymour said they were meeting with recent theft and burglary victims to positively identify the property.

Police are still following up on several cases related to the search warrant and other recent thefts, Seymour said.

Still in jail is Alyssa Bennight, 21, also of Prineville, who was arrested twice in recent weeks on burglary and theft charges, accused of taking items from homes she entered by asking to use the bathroom.
