Local Alert Weather – Fri. PM

KTVZ

Happy Friday evening, everyone!

A Winter Weather Advisory has been put in place for areas north of Highway 20 west of the Cascades as well as Wasco County and stretching out to northeastern Oregon. Snow is expected in these areas over the next 24 hours. Roadways will be icy, so take your time!

Tonight we can expect the chance for snow showers with a better chance for those along the Cascades and out towards the northeast. Cloudy skies will be overhead. Lows will fall into the low to mid 20s. Winds will be out of the southwest around 10 miles per hour.

Saturday sees a chance for snow showers early in the morning, which means we would be off to a slick start. Daytime highs will be cooler in the upper 20s and lower 30s — about 10 degrees cooler than we were for Friday! Another wave of snow showers is expected overnight into Sunday.

Mt. Bachelor is looking to pick up around 3-6″ of snow through the weekend. Snow levels will be below 2,500′ and lower through the end of the weekend.

Passes are expected to be snow covered and icy. Winter driving will be the case through the holiday weekend. Chains or traction tires are required.

Christmas Eve could wake up to a dusting of snow for Central Oregon if the cold front stalls over the region, which is expected. A wintry mix is possible by the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s once again.

Christmas Day is looking dry, but cloudy. Highs will top out in the low to mid 30s.

Have a happy & safe weekend!

Merry Christmas!
