Hwy. 97-Cooley Road reopens after pedestrian crash
(Update: Hwy. 97 lanes reopen)
A vehicle collided with a pedestrian at the intersection of Highway 97 and Cooley Road Wednesday night, causing apparently serious injuries and closing three lanes for a time during Bend’s second major police investigation of the night.
ODOT reported the two northbound lanes of the highway and a southbound lane were closed after the crash, reported around 8:15 p.m. Motorists were warned to expect congestion in the area.
The agency said the road was fully open again about an hour later.
To the south, a non-injury crash related to a medical issue sent a car crashing onto the railroad tracks by the Bend Parkway — and police said that investigation led to the discovery of a body 50 yards south of the crash scene, an apparently unrelated incident. One lane of the northbound parkway was closed in the area for that investigation.
