(Update: Highway reopens)

A two-vehicle crash blocked all lanes of Highway 97 in La Pine for a time Tuesday evening, authorities reported.

ODOT said the two-vehicle crash was reported around 5 p.m. in the area of Milepost 168. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said that was in the area of William Foss Road and urged drivers to avoid the area if possible to take alternate routes or expect delays.

A northbound lane reopened by 6:30 p.m. and the southbound lane reopened a short time later, ODOT said.

Oregon State Police Lt. Steve Mitchell did not have any initial information on the extent of injuries but said an air ambulance was reportedly en route to the scene.
