KTVZ

A Canby, Oregon woman died in a single-engine plane crash in Clark County, Wash., on Sunday afternoon.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies said the plane, a Piper Super Cub, crashed into a wooded area at about 1 p.m., south of Daybreak Field, between La Center and Battleground.

The piloit, Mary Rosenblum, 65, of Canby, died at the scene. KGW reported she was a former head of the Oregon Pilots Association, and a nationally known science fiction writer.

Deputies said Rosenblum was traveling with a friend, who was piloting another aircraft and did not witness the crash. The crash occurred south of the grass field, where both planned to land, having stopped in other locations earlier in the day.
