NE Bend traffic stop leads to drug arrest, seizure

KTVZ

A northeast Bend traffic stop early Friday morning led to the arrest of a Terrebonne woman and seizure of heroin, methamphetamine, Xanax pills and nearly $700 in cash, police said Saturday.

A Bend officer conducted a traffic stop on a car with California license plates shortly before 2 a.m. Friday for a minor traffic violation near the corner of Empire Avenue and Boyd Acres Road, Lt. Ken Mannix said.

“The officer had observed the vehicle make a series of suspicious turns and suspicious driving maneuvers prior to the traffic stop,” Mannix said in a news release.

The officer identified the driver as Jordan Lynn Weigel, 24, of Terrebonne. “Other occupants of the vehicle were known to the officers to be involved in the use and possession of illegal drugs,” Mannix added.

While the first officer was filling out a warning for the traffic violation, another officer developed probable cause to search the car for drugs.

That search turned up nearly 1 1/2 ounces of heroin and user quantities of meth and Xanax pills, as well as Xanax pills packaging material, digital scales and $697 in cash, Mannix said.

Weigel was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail, where she was booked on charges of heroin manufacturing, distribution and possession, meth possession and possession of a Schedule 4 controlled substance. She was released the same day after posting 10 percent of $71,000 bail.

Court records showed Weigel is scheduled for arraignment June 6 in Crook County on a misdemeanor heroin possession charge from last August, as well as an Oct. 2 charge of failure to appear in court on that citation last Sept. 28. The records also showed that Deschutes County meth and heroin possession charges filed against Weigel were dismissed on March 22 of this year.
