Rimrock Trailhead to reopen, six days after prescribed burn
The Rimrock Trailhead and trail system on the Deschutes National Forest will reopen to the public on Saturday.
The popular trailhead and trail system about one mile west of Bend on the Cascade Lakes Highway was temporarily closed for a prescribed burn that occurred last Sunday. It has remained closed while firefighters monitored the burn area, cooled the hottest spots and removed overhead hazards along the trail.
Although the area is opening again, visitors are cautioned to stay on the trails and keep dogs on leash because there are very likely hot spots in the burned areas that could injure individuals and pets.
