‘This isn’t a town, it’s a local community’: Greg’s Grill to host benefit for Mt. Bachelor Avalanche Dog Team
(Update: Adding video, comments from Greg's Grill, Mt. Bachelor)
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- There will be a benefit for the Mt. Bachelor Avalanche Dog Team on Friday, March 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greg's Grill, which will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the event to the dog team.
The four avalanche dogs, along with their Ski Patrol handlers, will be on hand to interact with the community. The money will go toward dog training, food and vet bills.
The avalanche dogs are named Shasta, Cashew and Ruddy, along with their newest puppy, Jetty.
"It's really special to have Greg's Grill host this event for the whole community," Mt. Bachelor pro patroller Joshua Bowden said. "It benefits the dogs and the dog program."
The resort says, "Our team of avalanche dogs and their dedicated Ski Patrol handlers are on the mountain daily for continued training and conditioning to support the safety of our guests."
Greg's Grill General Manager Andreas Gregoriou said, "We've always thought that being a part of the local community is important. Greg, Teresa and Houston Hubert have always thought that, too."
"They think that this is -- this isn't a town, it's a local community," Gregoriou added. "And what better way to get involved than to do something that is the mountain-orientated, dog-orientated and just -- it's a great benefit for the whole community."
There will be live music and cocktails to enjoy, as well as avalanche dog gear you can purchase. And the benefit will be free to attend.
