This weekend’s Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed-build in Bend to honor fallen airman; bedding donations sought

(Update: Adding video)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Bend Home Depot store may be busier than usual this Saturday, when hundreds of volunteers gather to build beds for children who don’t have their own.

Home Depot is donating their parking lot, plus $12,000 in donated materials to build the beds. Albertson’s is providing lunches with water and beverages.

The bed build is in honor of Trinity Reinhart, a local 20-year-old airman who served in the US Air Force and died last year. Many military people and veterans are expected to turn out to help build 200 beds.

The local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace - a new 21 Cares for Kids Partner - is coordinating the build. They are looking for donations of new-in-package twin sheets, pillows, etc. Donations can be dropped at the Home Depot build starting at 8 am Saturday.

For more info, contact Joe Myers, local SHP chapter president, 541-280-7683 or joe.myers@shpbeds.org.
